Project Eshaan – School & Community Sanitation Infrastructure Initiative

Strengthening Hygiene Access Through Grassroots Sanitation Infrastructure in Palghar District

Project Eshaan is the sanitation and hygiene infrastructure programme of Shree Gaurangas Foundation Trust, designed to improve access to safe sanitation facilities across schools, residential environments, and community spaces.

Sanitation infrastructure remains a critical pillar of public health, dignity, and community well-being.

Through Project Eshaan, the Trust supports the development and strengthening of sanitation infrastructure that enhances hygiene standards, promotes dignity-centred facilities, and reinforces preventive health conditions within communities.

Grassroots Development Approach

Operating at the grassroots level, Shree Gaurangas Foundation Trust works closely with local communities, institutions, and stakeholders to identify sanitation gaps and implement practical infrastructure interventions that improve everyday living conditions.

The programme focuses on strengthening sanitation infrastructure in environments where hygiene facilities are essential for health, dignity, and safe community participation including schools, residential environments, and shared public spaces.

Geographic Context

Project Eshaan initiatives are implemented within the Palghar District of Maharashtra, a region that includes significant tribal populations and several areas notified as Scheduled Areas under Article 244 of the Constitution of India.

These regions fall within the constitutional framework governing tribal areas and the Panchayats (Extension to Scheduled Areas) Act, 1996 (PESA), which recognises community participation and locally responsive development initiatives.

Strengthening sanitation infrastructure in such regions contributes to improved hygiene conditions, safer community environments, and inclusive grassroots development.
